Alireza is an Associate Dean (Research) in the School of Engineering.
Assoc Prof Alireza Keshavarz holds a Ph.D. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Adelaide, a M.Sc. degree in Reservoir Engineering from the University of Tehran (Iran) and a B.Sc. degree in Chemical-Petroleum Engineering from Petroleum University of Technology (Iran).
Prior of joining ECU, Alireza was a research scientist in CSIRO-Energy business unit where he conducted research on enhancing gas production from unconventional resources and CO2-sequestration. Before pursuing his Ph.D. study, he was a Petroleum Engineer in National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for 6 years. Alireza’s research interests focus on Enhanced Oil/Gas Recovery from conventional and unconventional reservoirs.

- Enhanced oil/gas recovery: Chemical-EOR, Wettability alteration, Low salinity water flooding, Nano-fluids
- Unconventional resources: coal seam, shale, tight sands, gas hydrates
- Hydraulic Fracturing, Fracture stimulation, Proppant placement
- CO2-sequestration
